No 540 of 2006 European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) (Amendment) (No 3) Regulations 2006 I, Martin Cullen, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Directive 2005/55/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 20051 Commission Directive 2005/78/EC of 14 November 20052 , Commission Directive 2006/20/EC of 17 February 20063 , Commission Directive 2006/27/EC of 3 March 20064 , Commission Directive 2006/51/EC of 6 June 20065 , Commission Directive 2006/72/EC of 18 August 20066 and Commission Decision 2006/368/EC of 20 March 20067 in so far as they relate to the type approval of motor vehicles, trailers and components, hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2006. 2. The European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) Regulations 1978 ( S.I. No. 305 of 1978 ) are amended by substituting for Schedule 1 (inserted by the European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 305 of 1978 ) implemented in Ireland those provisions of a number of European Community Directives which deal with the type approval of motor vehicles, their trailers and components. The relevant EC Directives are listed in the Schedule to those Regulations. Subsequent Regulations have been made amending S.I. No. 305 of 1978 , the latest being the European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 166 of 2006 ), by substituting a new schedule to take account of certain type approval directives subsequently adopted. These Regulations provide for an amendment of the European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) Regulations, 1978, ( S.I. No. 305 of 1978 ) as amended by the European Communities (Motor Vehicles Type Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 2006 ( S.I. No. 166 of 2006 ). These regulations substitute a new schedule 1 for schedule 1 of S.I. No. 305 of 1978 , as amended by S.I.
