No. 678 of 2006 Regulations Entitled Ethics in Public Office (Prescribed Public Bodies, Designated Directorships of and Positions in Public Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 Made by the Minister for Finance I, BRIAN COWEN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of and paragraph

(13)of the First Schedule to the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995 (No. 22 of 1995) and, in relation to each body, organisation or group prescribed for the purposes of that paragraph by the following regulations, being of the opinion that, in the public interest and having regard to the provisions and spirit of that Act, each of them ought to be prescribed, and after consultation with such other Ministers of the Government as I consider appropriate, hereby make the following regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Ethics in Public Office (Prescribed Public Bodies, Designated Directorships of and Positions in Public Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 2006.
(2)These Regulations come into operation on 1 January
  2. The Ethics in Public Office (Prescribed Public Bodies, Designated Directorships of Public Bodies, and Designated Positions in Public Bodies) Regulations 2004 ( S.I. No. 699 of 2004 ) are amended— : (a) by substituting the following for Regulation 4: “
  3. For the purpose of the definition of “designated directorship” in section 2 of the Act, the directorships specified in column
(3)of the Schedule of each public body specified in column
(2)of the Schedule opposite that reference number are prescribed, unless the holder of the directorship holds the office of a judge of any court.”, (b) by substituting the following for Regulation 6: “6. For the purposes of the definition of ‘designated position’ in section 2 of the Act, the positions of employment specified in column
(4)of the Schedule of each public body specified in column
(2)of the Schedule opposite that reference number are prescribed.”, (c) by substituting the following for Regulation 8: “8. The following are prescribed for the purposes of paragraph 1

Persons holding directorships prescribed as “designated directorships”, are also required to furnish a statement of registrable interests, or, where appropriate, are requested to furnish a statement of nil interests, to the Standards in Public Office Commission.
