No. 121 of 2008 DISTRICT COURT AREAS (AMENDMENT) (AUGUST SITTINGS) ORDER 2008 Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of 2nd May, 2008. The Courts Service, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), as amended by section 43 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), section 16 of the Courts Act 1971 (No. 36 of 1971) and section 29 of the Courts Service Act 1998 (No. 8 of 1998) and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby orders as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the District Court Areas (Amendment) (August Sittings) Order 2008. 2. This Order shall come into operation on 30 July 2008. 3. Article 5 of District Court Areas (Amendment) Order 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ) is amended by the substitution for paragraph (
4. b)of the following paragraph— “(
5. b)for the purpose of transacting the business of the District Court exercising its summary jurisdiction during the month of August in each year— (
6. i)notwithstanding paragraph (a), sittings shall be held during the month of August in and for such District Court areas as are fixed, (in each case on such days, at such hours and at the place fixed by the Principal Order or otherwise for such sitting), and (
7. ii)there may be initiated before or transacted at any such sitting any business of the District Court exercising its summary jurisdiction for any District Court area comprised in the relevant District Court district.” GIVEN under the Seal of the Courts Service 30 April 2008 MIRIAM MALONE.
