I, NOEL DEMPSEY, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2005/64/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2005 1 and Directive 2006/40 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 June 20062 in so far as they relate to the entry into service of motor vehicles, hereby make the following regulations— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) (Amendment) Regulations 2008. 2. The European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry Into Service) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) These Regulations amend the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) Regulation 2007 ( S.I. No. 448 of 2007 ) by substituting new schedules for Schedules 1 and 2. The 2007 Regulations outline the requirements to be satisfied in relation to motor vehicle type-approval matters for the first registration of new commercial vehicles in Ireland. Schedules 1 and 2 to these Regulations specify the EU motor vehicle type-approval directives for which certificates of conformity must be available for such a vehicle in order to put it into service in Ireland.
