CREDIT INSTITUTIONS (FINANCIAL SUPPORT) (SPECIFICATION OF INSTITUTIONS) ORDER 2008 Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of 31st October, 2008. I, BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powersconferred on me by section 6
(1)of the Credit Institutions (Financial Support) Act 2008 (No. 18 of 2008), having regard to the matters set out in section 2 of that Act, hereby order as follows:
- This Order may be cited as the Credit Institutions (Financial Support) (Specification of Institutions) Order
- For the purposes of section 6
(1)of the Credit Institutions (Financial Support) Act 2008 , the following credit institutions and subsidiaries are specified: (
- a)Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. and its subsidiaries AIB Mortgage Bank, AIB Bank (CI) Limited, AIB Group (UK) plc and Allied Irish Banks North America Inc.; (
- b)Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc and its subsidiary Anglo Irish Bank Corporation (International) plc; (
- c)The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland and its subsidiaries Bank of Ireland Mortgage Bank, ICS Building Society and Bank of Ireland (I.O.M.) Limited; (
- d)EBS Building Society; (
- e)Irish Life & Permanent plc and its subsidiary Irish Permanent (IOM) Limited; (
- f)Irish Nationwide Building Society and its subsidiary Irish Nationwide (I.O.M.) Limited. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 24 October 2008 BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Finance. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) This order is made under Section 6
(1)of the Credit Institutions (Financial Support) Act 2008 (the Act) which provides that the Minister may providefinancial support in respect of covered liabilities of any credit institution or subsidiary which the Minister may specify by order. The institutions named in this order are specified as covered institutions under the Credit Institutions (Financial Support) Scheme 2008 which was made by the Minister pursuant to Section 6
(4)of the Act.
