No. 205 of 2009 GARDA SÍOCHÁNA (RETIREMENT) REGULATIONS 2009 Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of 2nd June, 2009. I, DERMOT AHERN, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, after consulting with the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and with the approval of the Government, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 122 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (No. 20 of 2005), make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 2009. 2. Notwithstanding anything contained in— (

5. i)the Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 1934 (S.R. & O. No. 146 of 1934), (
6. ii)the Garda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 1951 ( S.I. No. 335 of 1951 ), (iii) the Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 1990 ( S.I. No. 318 of 1990 ), (
7. iv)the Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 1996 ( S.I. No. 16 of 1996 ), as continued in force by section 128 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, (
8. b)the Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 680 of 2006 ), (
9. c)the Garda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 686 of 2006 ), or (
10. d)the Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 771 of 2007 ), the member of the Garda Síochána who, immediately before the making of these regulations, holds the rank of Commissioner of the Garda Síochána shall retire on 31 December 2010.
