No. 313 of 2009 HARBOUR AUTHORITIES (NON-HOLDING OF ELECTIONS) ORDER 2009 Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of 7th August, 2009. I, NOEL DEMPSEY, Minister for Transport, being of the opinion that, as respects the election to be held in the year 2009 in respect of the harbour authorities specified in the Schedule to the following order of the elected members of those authorities, the electors will be so few in number as to render inappropriate the holding of the election, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 11 of the Harbours Act 1946 (No. 9 of 1946) and the Maritime Transport, Safety and Security (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2005 ( S.I. No. 842 of 2005 ), hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Harbour Authorities (Non-Holding of Elections) Order 2009. 2. It is directed that the election to be held in the election year 2009 of the elected members of a harbour authority specified in the Schedule to this Order shall not be held. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). The effect of this Instrument is to direct that elections for shipping representatives shall not be held at the harbours specified above in the harbour election year, 2009.
