The Courts Service, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), as amended by section 43 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), section 16 of the Courts Act 1971 (No. 36 of 1971) and section 29 of the Courts Service Act 1998 (No. 8 of 1998) and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby orders as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the District Court (Days and Hours) (August Sittings) Order 2010. 2. This Order shall come into operation on 31st July 2010. 3. Sittings for the purposes of Article 5(
  4. b)of the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ) shall be held during the month of August in and for each District Court area referred to in column

(2)of the table to this Order (in each case serving the relevant District Court district mentioned in column
(1)of the table immediately opposite such reference). Where such sittings are not held on such days, and at such hours and at the place for the time being fixed for sittings of the District Court for the purpose of transacting the business of the District Court exercising its summary jurisdiction in such District Court area by the District Court (Areas) Order 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 )(as amended)(the “Principal Order”), such sittings shall be held on such days, and at such hours and at the place referred to in column
(3)of the table immediately opposite the District Court area referred to in column
(2). 4. Business transacted in the District Court that is initiated and not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated. TABLE

No. 161 of 1970 ) as amended by the District Court Areas (Amendment) (August Sittings) Order 2008 ( S.I. No. 177 of 2008 ). Where the days, hours and places of such sittings are not separately fixed by this Order (in column
(3)of the Table), they shall be as fixed for sittings of the District Court exercising its summary jurisdiction by the District Court (Areas) Order 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ).
