I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), as amended by the European Communities Act 2007 (No. 18 of 2007), and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive 2010/47/EU of the 5 July 20101 , hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Random Roadside Vehicle Inspection) (Amendment) Regulations 2011. 2. Regulation 2
(1)of the European Communities (Random Roadside Vehicle Inspection) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 227 of 2003 ) is amended by substituting for the definition of “Directive” the following: “ ‘Directive’ means Directive 2000/30/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 June 20002 , as amended by Commission Directive 2010/47/EU of 5 July 20111;”. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). These Regulations transpose Directive 2010/47/EU relating to random roadside vehicle inspections through the amendment of the European Communities (Random Roadside Vehicle Inspection) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 227 of 2003 ).
