I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (as amended by section 3 of the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) (Amendment) Act 1998 (No. 41. of 1998)) of the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Act 1980 (No. 24 of 1980) hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Act 1980 (Ratification of UPOV) Order 2011. 2. Any country that is a member of the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants shall be a Contracting Party for the purposes of the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Acts 1980 and 1998.
