(1)of the Prisons Act 2007 (No.10 of 2007) (as adapted by the Justice and Law Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 138 of 2011 )), direct that Part 4 of the Act applies to the proposed construction of a prison on a portion of the site used as Cork prison, Rathmore townland in the city of Cork. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 30 June 2012. ALAN SHATTER, Minister for Justice and Equality. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) This direction applies the requirements of Part 4 of the Prisons Act 2007 to the proposed development of a prison on a portion of the site currently used in connection with the existing prison in Cork.
