I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2003/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 July 20031 , hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Vehicle Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence) (Amendment) Regulations 2013. 2. The European Communities (Vehicle Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence) (No. 2) Regulations 2008 ( S.I. No. 359 of 2008 ) are hereby amended by the substitution, for Regulation 6
(2)(b), of the following: “(
- b)is used by, or under the control of— (
- i)the Garda Síochána, (
- ii)the Defence Forces, (iii) a fire brigade, (
- iv)the Civil Defence, or (
