I, JAMES REILLY, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 20101 , hereby make the following regulations: 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes) (Amendment) Regulations 2013.
(2)These Regulations and the Principal Regulations may be cited together as the European Union (Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes) Regulations 2012 and
  2. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the European Union (Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes) Regulations 2012 ( S.I. No. 543 of 2012 ).
  3. Regulation 59 of the Principal Regulations is amended by substituting for paragraph
(2)the following paragraph: “
(2)The National Committee shall stand established on 1 December 2013.” 4. Regulation 60
(4)of the Principal Regulations is amended by substituting “Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform” for “Minister for Public, Expenditure and Reform”. 5. Regulation 88 of the Principal Regulations is amended— (a) in paragraph
(1), by deleting “by order”, (b) in paragraph
(2), by deleting “by order”, (c) in paragraph
(4), by deleting “by order”, and (d) in paragraph
(6), by substituting “revoke any provisional measure adopted” for “by order revoke any order made”. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 15 November

These Regulations give further effect to Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2010 on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. These Regulations amend the European Union (Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes) Regulations 2012 and provide for the establishment of the National Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes on 1 December
  2. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes) (Amendment) Regulations
