I, ALAN SHATTER, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Prisons Act 1970 (No. 11 of 1970) (as adapted by the Justice and Law Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 138 of 2011 )), hereby make the following regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Detention of Offenders (Wheatfield Place of Detention) Regulations 2013.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on 19 December
- In these Regulations "Wheatfield Place of Detention" means the place to be known as Wheatfield Place of Detention situate at Cloverhill Road, Clondalkin, in the county of Dublin, being a place provided by the Minister for Justice and Equality under section 2 of the Prisons Act 1970 (No. 11 of 1970).
- Male persons who, at the time of their transfer to Wheatfield Place of Detention, are not less than 17 years of age may be detained therein.
- These Regulations shall not affect the operation of the Prison Rules 2007 ( S.I. No. 252 of 2007 ) insofar as those Rules apply to Wheatfield Place of Detention.
- The Detention of Offenders (Wheatfield) Regulations 1989 ( S.I. No. 135 of 1989 ) and the Detention of Offenders (Wheatfield) Regulations 1990 ( S.I. No. 218 of 1990 ) are hereby revoked. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 18 December
