I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 2013/25/EU of 13 May 20131 in so far as that Directive relates to veterinary medicine, hereby make the following Regulations— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Veterinary Practice Act 2005) (Amendment) Regulations 2014. 2. The Veterinary Practice Act 2005 (No. 22 of 2005) is amended, in section 43
(15)(inserted by section 8 of the Veterinary Practice (Amendment) Act 2012 (No. 25 of 2012)) by the substitution for the definition of “Mutual Recognition Directive”, of— “ ‘Mutual Recognition Directive’ means Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 20052 , as amended by Council Directive 2006/100/EC of 20 November 20063 , Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1430/2007 of 5 December 20074 , Commission Regulation (EC) No. 755/2008 of 31 July 20085 , Regulation (EC) No. 1137/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 October 20086 , Commission Regulation (EC) No. 279/2009 of 6 April 20097 , Commission Regulation (EU) No. 213/2011 of 3 March 20118 , the Act concerning the conditions of accession of the Republic of Croatia9 , Commission Regulation (EU) No. 623/2012 of 11 July 201210 and Council Directive 2013/25/EU of 13 May 2013.”. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) These regulations implement Directive 2013/25/EU in so far as it relates to veterinary medicines, in the field of free movement of persons by reason of accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union.
