I, MICHAEL NOONAN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 40
(3)of the Betting (Amendment) Act 2015 (No. 7 of 2015), hereby make the following order:
- This Order may be cited as the Betting (Amendment) Act 2015 (Commencement) Order
- In this Order “Act of 2015” means the Betting (Amendment) Act 2015 . 3.
(1)Subject to paragraphs
(2)and
(3), the 15th day of April 2015 is appointed as the day upon which the Act of 2015 (other than section 39) shall come into operation.
(2)The 1st day of August 2015 is appointed as the day upon which sections 4, 5, 6, 17, 19 and 28 of the Act of 2015 shall come into operation.
(3)The 1st day of December 2015 is appointed as the day upon which section 18 of the Act of 2015 shall come into operation. GIVEN under my Official Seal 14 April
- MICHAEL NOONAN, Minister for Finance. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). This Order provides for the commencement on 15th April 2015 of the Betting (Amendment) Act 2015 , with the exception of certain licence enforcement provisions that are commenced on 1st August 2015 to allow a period of time for remote bookmakers and remote betting intermediaries to become licensed. Measures relating to the publication of new registers of licensed remote bookmakers and remote betting intermediaries will come into operation also on 1st August
- The order provides that the measures under the Act providing for the publication by Revenue of the register of licensed bookmakers will come into operation on 1st December 2015, the date by which bookmakers will have next renewed their licences.
