I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 36 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 (No. 15 of 2013) and, for the purposes of giving further effect to Article 10 of Council Directive 92/65/EEC of 13 July 19921 (as amended by Directive 2013/31/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 June 2013) and Regulation (EU) No. 576/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 June 20132 , hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pet Passport (No. 2) Regulations 2014 Amendment Regulations 2016. 2. The Pet Passport (No. 2) Regulations 2014 ( S.I. No. 602 of 2014 ) are amended
(1)by the insertion after Regulation 9 of— “ 9A.
(1)A person shall not import or attempt to import a cat, dog or ferret from another member state unless the cat, dog or ferret— (
- a)satisfies the conditions set out in Article 6 of the Pet Passport Regulation, (
- b)has undergone a clinical examination by a veterinary practitioner carried out within 48 hours of dispatch, and (
- c)is accompanied by a duly completed health certificate which corresponds to the specimen in Part 1 of Annex E to the Council Directive.”, and

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) These Regulations amend the Pet Passport (No. 2) Regulations 2014 ( S.I.
