I, SHANE ROSS, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 35 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (No. 7 of 1994), and the National Roads and Road Traffic (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 298 of 2002 ) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), hereby make the following regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) (Amendment) Regulations 2016.
(2)The Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 to 2014 and these Regulations may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 to
- Article 5 (amended by article 5 of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 ( S.I. No. 274 of 1998 )) of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 ( S.I. No. 182 of 1997 ) is amended in sub-article
(3)by inserting after paragraph (
- f)the following paragraph: “(
- fa)a vehicle being used in connection with the operation of electronic or other apparatus referred to in subsection
(1)of section 81 of the Road Traffic Act 2010 (No. 25 of 2010) under an agreement referred to in subsection
(7)of that section and which is at a location determined, for the purposes of that section, by a member of the Garda Síochána not below the rank of Superintendent;” GIVEN under my Official Seal, 30 August 2016. These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 ( S.I. No. 182 of 1997 ) to provide an exemption to the prohibition on the entry of a vehicle to a road or an area or the prohibition on the stopping or parking of a vehicle imposed by the 1997 Regulations to speed camera vehicles.
