I, SHANE ROSS, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2009/45/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 20091 , as amended by Commission Directive 2010/36/EU of 1 June 20102 and Commission Directive (EU) 2016/844 of 27 May 20163 hereby make the following regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Passenger Ships) (Amendment) Regulations 2017.
(2)These Regulations come into operation on 1 July
- The European Communities (Passenger Ships) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 322 of 2011 ) are amended in Regulation 2
(1)by the substitution of the following for the definition of Directive: “ ‘Directive’ means Directive 2009/45/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 20091, as amended by Commission Directive 2010/36/EU of 1 June 20102 and Commission Directive (EU) 2016/844 of 27 May 20163;”. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) The purpose of this Statutory Instrument is to amend the definition of “Directive” in the European Communities Regulations (Passenger Ships) 2011 ( S.I. No. 322 of 2011 ).
