I, SHANE ROSS, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 19 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1992 (No. 2 of 1992) and the Maritime Transport, Safety and Security (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2005 ( S.I. No. 842 of 2005 ) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Fishing Vessel (Personal Flotation Devices) (Amendment) Regulations 2018. 2. Regulation 2 of the Fishing Vessel (Personal Flotation Devices) Regulations 2001 ( S.I. No. 586 of 2001 ) is amended by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph (
4. c)of the definition of “suitable personal flotation device”: “(
5. c)which has on it either— (
6. i)the CE conformity marking consisting of the initials ‘CE’ taking the form shown in the specimen in Annex II of Regulation (EC) 765/2008 of 9 July 20081 , or (
7. ii)the mark of conformity in the form of the symbol set out in Annex I to Council Directive 2014/90/EU of 23 July 20142 .”. 3.
