I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and the National Roads and Road Traffic (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 298 of 2002 ) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) (No. 6) Regulations 2020. 2. Regulation 41 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 537 of 2006 ) shall apply to an application by a person for a driving licence or a learner permit made during the period beginning on 1 August 2020 and ending on 31 December 2020, subject to the modification that paragraph
(1)(d) of that Regulation shall not operate or have effect during that period. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 29 July,

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations 2006 to provide that persons of 70 years or older (except those with an identified/specified illness) applying for a learner permit or driving licence do not need to submit a medical report with their application during the period beginning on the 1 August 2020 and ending on 31 December
