I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Article 3
(3)(b) in so far as it relates to Article 6 and Article 6 of Directive 2009/28 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 20091 as amended by Directive (EU) 2015/1513 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 September 20152 , hereby make the following regulations: Citation
- These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Renewable Energy) (Amendment) Regulations
- Amendment of Regulation 15 of European Union (Renewable Energy) Regulations 2014
- Regulation 15 of the European Union (Renewable Energy) Regulations 2014 ( S.I. No. 483 of 2014 ) is amended by the insertion of the following paragraphs after paragraph
(1): “
(2)For the purpose of ensuring compliance with the national overall target for the share of energy from renewable sources in respect of the State referred to in Article 3
(1)of, and Part A of Annex I to, the Directive, the Minister may apply the measures referred to in Article 3
(3)(b), and as provided for in Article 6, of the Directive, arrange for the statistical transfer of a specified amount of energy from renewable sources from other Member States to the State and may take any other such steps as are necessary for that purpose.
(3)The expenses and expenditure incurred by the Minister in the performance of his or her functions under paragraph
(2)shall, to such extent as may be sanctioned by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, be paid out of monies provided by the Oireachtas.”. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 11 November

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) These regulations modify Regulation 15 of European Union (Renewable Energy) Regulations 2014 with respect to the measures referred to in Article 6 of Directive (EU) 2009/
