I, NORMA FOLEY, Minister for Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 24 (inserted by section 6 of the Education (Amendment) Act 2012 (No. 14 of 2012)) of the Education Act 1998 (No. 51 of 1998) (as adapted by the Education and Skills (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 450 of 2020 )) and due to the exigencies of the public health emergency posed by the spread of the disease known as Covid-19 caused by infection with the virus SARS-CoV-2, hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education Act 1998 (Unregistered Persons) (Amendment) Regulations 2022. 2. Regulation 7 of the Education Act 1998 (Unregistered Persons) Regulations 2014 ( S.I. No. 32 of 2014 ) is amended – (
4. a)in paragraph (a), by the deletion of “and”, and (
5. b)by the insertion of the following paragraph after paragraph (a): “(
6. aa)in the case of a person who satisfies the criteria to be eligible to apply to the Teaching Council to be entered on the register as a student teacher, pursuant to Route 5 of the Schedule to the Teaching Council (Registration) Regulations 2016 (S. I. No. 444 of 2016) (amended by the Teaching Council (Registration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2021 ( S.I. No. 745 of 2021 )), for a period or periods ending no later than 30 June 2022, and”.
