I, DARRAGH O’BRIEN, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act 1980 (No. 8 of 1980) (as adapted by the Housing, Planning and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 408 of 2020 )) and the Finance (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 418 of 2011 ) (as adapted by the Public Expenditure and Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2023 ( S.I. No. 19 of 2023 )), and with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, hereby make the following scheme: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) (Amendment) Scheme 2024.
(2)These Regulations come into operation on 19 August
- The Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme ( S.I. No. 455 of 1998 ) is amended: (a) in article 65, by inserting after sub-article
(3)the following: “
(4)Notwithstanding sub-articles
(2)and
(3)(a) the maximum age at which a registered officer, who is a fire brigade officer, shall be eligible for enhanced credit is 60 years.
(5)Sub-article
(4)does not apply to a registered officer, who is a fire brigade officer, who is in service before 19 August 2024.”, and (b) in article 90, by inserting after sub-article
(3)the following: “
(4)Notwithstanding sub-articles
(2)and
(3)(a) the maximum age at which a registered employee, who is a fire brigade employee or whose name is entered in a register maintained under section 65 of the Act of 1945, shall be eligible for enhanced credit is 60 years.”.
