The Private Security Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 30 of the Private Security Services Act 2004 (No. 12 of 2004) and with the consent of the Minister for Justice, hereby makes the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Private Security (Identity Badge) Regulations 2024. 2. These Regulations come into effect on 1st November 2024. 3. In these Regulations— “Act” means the Private Security Services Act 2004 ; “door supervisor licence” has the same meaning as it has in the Private Security (Licensing and Qualifications) Regulations 2022; “identity card” has the same meaning as an identity card issued under the Private Security Services Act 2004 ; “protected forms of transport (cash-in-transit) licence” has the same meaning as a licence issued under the Private Security Services Act 2004 ; “security guard (guarding) licence” has the same meaning as it has in the Private Security (Licensing and Qualifications) Regulations 2022; “security guard temporary licence” has the same meaning as it has in the Private Security (Security Guard Temporary Licence) Regulations 2022. 4. The categories of licensees specified in Schedule 1 are prescribed as prescribed categories for the purposes of section 30 of the Act. 5.

(1)The identity badge shall take the form of an identity card issued by the Private Security Authority as prescribed by Schedule 4 of S.I. No. 147 of 2012 .
(2)The form, content and size of the identity card is prescribed as the form, content and size of an identity badge to be worn by the categories of persons prescribed by Regulation
  1. The Private Security (Identity Badge) Regulations 2009 (S.I. No. 332/2009) are revoked. SCHEDULE 1 Categories of licensees prescribed for the purposes of section 30 of the Act
  2. Persons holding a door supervisor licence.
  3. Persons holding a protected forms of transport (cash-in-transit) licence.
  4. Persons holding a security guard (guarding) licence other than while such service is being provided and as respects such service it is necessary for the effective provision of the service concerned that members of the public should not be aware that the person is providing such service.
  5. Persons holding a security guard temporary licence. The Minister for Justice consents to the making of the foregoing Regulations. GIVEN under my Official Seal, 17 October,
