(2)and 25 of the Wildlife Act 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), the Heritage (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 339 of 2020 ) (as adapted by the Housing, Planning and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 408 of 2020 )) and the Housing, Local Government and Heritage (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order 2023 ( S.I. No. 615 of 2023 ) hereby order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order 2024.
(2)The Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) Orders 2005 to 2012 and this Order may be cited together as the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) Orders 2005 to
- In this Order, the “Principal Order” means the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) Order 2005 ( S.I. No. 550 of 2005 ).
- The Principal Order is amended by the substitution in Regulation 1 of “(Open Seasons) Order, 2005” for “(Open Seasons Order, 2005”.
- The Principal Order is amended by the substitution of the following Schedule for the Schedule to the Principal Order: “SCHEDULE Species of Wild Mammal Hunting Period Manner of Hunting Places in the State

(4)Male Fallow Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of August in each year and ending on the 30th day of April in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State. Female and Antlerless Fallow Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of November in each year and ending on the 31st day of March in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State. Male Sika Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of August in each year and ending on the 30th day of April in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State. Female and Antlerless Sika Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of November in each year and ending on the 31st day of March in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State. Male Red Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of August in each year and ending on the 30th day of April in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State exclusive of the county of Kerry. Female and Antlerless Red Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of November in each year and ending on the 31st day of March in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State exclusive of the county of Kerry. Hares The period beginning on the 26th day of September in each year and ending on the 28th day of February in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms; coursing at regulated coursing matches; hunting with packs of beagles and harriers Throughout the State exclusive of the townlands of North East Slob, North West Slob, Big Island, Beggerin Island and The Raven, in the county of Wexford. Muntjac Deer The period beginning on the 1st day of September in each year and ending on the 31st day of August in the year immediately following that year. Shooting with firearms Throughout the State. ”.
