I, PETER BURKE, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 4 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 15 , 18 , 19 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 49 , 50 and 63 of the Employment Permits Act 2024 (No. 17 of 20), hereby make the following regulations: Citation 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2025. Commencement 2. These Regulations come into operation on 7 April 2025. Definitions 3. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the Employment Permits Regulations 2024 ( S.I. No. 444 of 2024 ). Amendment of Schedule 5 to Principal Regulations 4. Schedule 5 (as amended by Regulation 5 of the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2025 ( S.I. No. 64 of 2025 )) to the Principal Regulations is amended— (
4. a)in the entry for “Car mechanic, Motor mechanic, Auto electrician, Motor vehicle technician”— (
5. i)in Column 2, by substituting “251” for “200”, and (
6. ii)in Column 3, by substituting “7th April 2025” for “30 October 2024”, (
7. b)in the entry for “HGV/Bus mechanic”— (
8. i)in Column 2, by substituting “97” for “200”, and (
9. ii)in Column 3, by substituting “7th April 2025” for “2nd September 2024”, and (
10. c)in the entry for “Vehicle body builder and repairer / Body Shop Panel Beater”— (
11. i)in Column 2, by substituting “50” for “17”, and (

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) These Regulations are made under the Employment Permits Act 2024 . They amend the Employment Permits Regulations 2024 by— - increasing the quota of General Employment Permits for employment as a car mechanic, motor mechanic, auto electrician or motor vehicle technician by 200 permits, - increasing the quota of General Employment Permits for employment as a HGV/bus mechanic by 200 permits, and - increasing the quota of General Employment Permits for employment as a vehicle body builder and repairer or body shop panel beater by 50 permits. These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2025.
