I, PETER BURKE, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 4 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 15 , 18 , 19 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 49 , 50 and 63 of the Employment Permits Act 2024 (No. 17 of 2024), hereby make the following regulations: Citation 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2025. Commencement 2. These Regulations come into operation on 10 March 2025. Definitions 3. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the Employment Permits Regulations 2024 ( S.I. No. 444 of 2024 ). Amendment of Schedule 3 to Principal Regulations 4. Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations is amended by substituting for the entry at SOC-3 number 243 the following entry: “ SOC-3 Categories of Employment SOC-4 Employment 243 Architects, Town Planners and Surveyors 2431 Architect 2432 Town Planning Officer 2433 Quantity Surveyor 2435 Architectural Technologist 2436 • Construction Project Manager • Commercial Manager ”. Amendment of Schedule 5 to Principal Regulations 5. Schedule 5 (as amended by Regulation 6 of the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2024 ( S.I. No. 598 of 2024 )) to the Principal Regulations is amended, in the entry for “Care workers or home carer”— (
  4. a)in Column 2, by substituting “1134” for “500”, and (

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) These Regulations are made under the Employment Permits Act 2024 . They amend the Employment Permits Regulations 2024 by increasing the quota of General Employment Permits for employment as a care worker or home carer by 1000 permits and adding the occupation of town planning officer to the critical skills occupations list. These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2025.
