I, JIM O’CALLAGHAN, Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 118
(5)(a) of the International Protection Act 2026 (No. 9 of 2026), hereby make the following regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the International Protection Act 2026 (Section 118
(5)(a)(ii)) (Places of Detention) Regulations 2026.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on 12 June
- In these Regulations, “Act of 2026” means the International Protection Act 2026 (No. 9 of 2026).
- Each place specified in Schedule 1 is prescribed for the purposes of Part 5 of the Act of 2026 as an appropriate place of detention of male persons.
- Each place specified in Schedule 2 is prescribed for the purposes of Part 5 of the Act of 2026 as an appropriate place of detention of female persons.
- The International Protection Act 2015 (Places of Detention) Regulations 2016 ( S.I. No. 666 of 2016 ) are revoked. SCHEDULE 1 Regulation 3 Every Garda Síochána station Cloverhill Prison SCHEDULE 2 Regulation 4 Every Garda Síochána Station Mountjoy Prison GIVEN under my Official Seal, 11 June,
