I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive (EU) 2014/65/EU of the European Parliament and Council of 15 May 20141 , hereby make the following regulations: PART 1 Preliminary and General Citation and commencement 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Markets in Financial Instruments) (Amendment) Regulations 2026.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on 31 August
- Definition
- In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the European Union (Markets in Financial Instruments) Regulations 2017 ( S.I. No. 375 of 2017 ). PART 2 Amendment of Principal Regulations Amendment of Regulation 4 of Principal Regulations
- The Principal Regulations are amended, in paragraph
(1)of Regulation 4, by the substitution of the following subparagraph for subparagraph (r): “(r) CSDs, except as provided for in Article 73 of Regulation (EU) No 909/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council2 ;”. Amendment of Regulation 36 of Principal Regulations 4. The Principal Regulations are amended, in Regulation 36, by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph
(4): “
(4)Unless the Bank otherwise directs, an investment firm shall comply with the obligation under this Regulation to make public a client limit order, where that order is large in scale compared with normal market size, as determined under Article 4 of Regulation (EU) No 600/20143 .”.
