In short
This law amends the Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Act, 1930, by modifying rules related to the registration of premises, pork exporter's licences, veterinary examinations, and fees for fresh meat exporters.
What it regulates
- The Minister's power to refuse applications for registration of premises under the Principal Act.
- Conditions for obtaining a pork exporter's licence for holders of a bacon-curing licence.
- The scope of veterinary examiner certificates for unfit animal carcases or offals.
- The calculation of half-yearly fees for pork exporters who also hold bacon-curing licences.
Who it concerns
- The Minister for Agriculture.
- Applicants for registration of premises under the Principal Act.
- Holders of bacon-curing licences who apply for pork exporter's licences.
- Veterinary examiners.
- Persons holding pork exporter's licences and bacon-curing licences for registered premises.
Key points
- The Minister may, at absolute discretion, refuse an application for registration of any premises, overriding certain sections of the Principal Act.
- For a person holding a bacon-curing licence, sub-section (1) of section 13 of the Principal Act does not apply when applying for a pork exporter's licence.
- A veterinary examiner's certificate can cover multiple carcases, offals, or portions found unfit for human consumption.
- If a pork exporter also holds a bacon-curing licence for the same premises, the minimum half-yearly fee for the pork exporter's licence can be deemed nought, or a collective minimum fee of fifty pounds or twenty-five pounds may apply depending on other licences held.
