PHARMACOPOEIA ACT, 1931.
AN ACT TO MAKE PROVISION FOR A PHARMACOPOEIA FOR SAORSTÁT EIREANN. [15th July, 1931.] BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS OF SAORSTÁT EIREANN AS FOLLOWS:— Definitions.
1.—In this Act— the expression “the Council” means the Medical Registration Council; the expression “the British Pharmacopoeia” means the book published in Great Britain under that name by the General Council of Medical Education and Registration of the United Kingdom in pursuance of the statutory provisions in that behalf.
Saorstát Eireann Pharmacopoeia.
2.—(1) The British Pharmacopoeia for the time being in force in Great Britain shall, with such modifications (if any) as may be made therein by the Council under this section and as are for the time being in force, be the Saorstát Eireann Pharmacopoeia.
Evidence.
3.—(1) Prima facie evidence of any rule made by the Council under this Act may be given in all Courts of Justice and in all legal proceedings by the production of a copy of the Iris Oifigiúil purporting to contain such rule.

4.—(1) It shall not be lawful for any person to compound any medicines of the Saorstát Eireann Pharmacopoeia except according to the formularies of such Pharmacopoeia.
Repeals.
5.—The enactment mentioned in the Schedule to this Act is hereby repealed to the extent specified in the third column to that Schedule.

6.—This Act may be cited as the Pharmacopoeia Act, 1931.

In section 30 the words “or compounding any medicines of the British Pharmacopoeia except according to the formularies of the said Pharmacopoeia,” and in section 31 the words “and against the preparing of any medicines of the British Pharmacopoeia except according to the formularies of the said Pharmacopoeia.”
