HOUSING ACT, 1930.
AN ACT TO AMEND THE HOUSING ACTS, 1925 TO 1929, AND THE
HOUSING ACT, 1929
. [8th July, 1930.]
BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS OF SAORSTĂT EIREANN AS FOLLOWS:â
The Principal Act.
1.âIn this Act the expression âthe Principal Actâ means the
Housing Act, 1929
(No. 12 of 1929).
Grants to the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust.
2.â(1) So much of
section 1
of the Principal Act as enacts that in that Act the word âpersonâ does not include the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust is hereby repealed and in lieu thereof it is hereby enacted that the word âpersonâ in the Principal Act includes the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust and that, subject to the provisions of the next sub-section of this section, the Principal Act shall be construed and have effect accordingly.
(2) No grant shall be made by the Minister under the Principal Act as amended by this Act to the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust in respect of any house the erection of which was begun before the passing of this Act.
Amendment of section 3 of the Principal Act.
3.âSub-section (2) of
section 3
of the Principal Act is hereby amended by the insertion therein, after the words âor in the next subsequent local financial year,â of the words âor in the local financial year ending on the 31st day of March 1932 â.
Increase of aggregate amount of grants.
4.âSub-section (4) of
section 3
of the Principal Act is hereby repealed and in lieu thereof it is hereby enacted that the aggregate amount of grants made or to be made under
section 3
of the
Housing Act, 1925
(No. 12 of 1925), as amended by
section 3
of the
Housing Act, 1928
(No. 31 of 1928), together with the aggregate amount of grants made or to be made under
section 3
of the Principal Act shall not exceed the sum of one million, two hundred and fifty thousand pounds.
Period for erection of houses.
5.âThe First Schedule to the Principal Act is hereby amended by the insertion therein of the following rule in lieu of rule 4 now contained therein, and the said Schedule and also
section 2
of the Principal Act shall be construed and have effect accordingly, that is to say:â
â4. The erection of a house shall have been begun after the 1st day of April, 1929 and before the 1st day of April, 1931 and shall have been completed on or before the 31st day of October, 1931, or within such further period not exceeding four months as the Minister in any particular case may allow.â
Short title, citation, and construction.
6.â(1) This Act may be cited as the Housing Act, 1930.
(2) The Housing Acts, 1925 and 1928, the Principal Act, and this Act may be cited together as the Housing Acts, 1925 to 1930.
(3) The Principal Act and this Act may be cited together as the Housing Acts, 1929 and 1930.
(4) This Act shall be construed as one with the Principal Act.
