RESOLUTION BALTIC ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION On the Development of Tourism in the Baltic States The Baltic Assembly, acknowledging the important contribution made by tourism to the economy of the Baltic states, as manifested in the growth of the gross domestic product, noting that the possibilities of the Baltic states in this field are poorly presented at the tourism markets of the European Union, considering that co-operation would help to solve the problems in the integration of the tourism in the Baltic states into the common tourism concept of the European Union and the Baltic Sea Region, calls on the Baltic Council of Ministers: – to widen the scope of the joint activities of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania directed to the promotion of their tourism resources at the target tourism markets of the world; – to harmonise the methods of gathering and statistical treatment of the data about the economic side of tourism, used in the Baltic states, with the methods accepted in the European Union; – to promote tourism by making decisions, which would facilitate the movement of tourists in the Baltic states; – to work out a joint strategy of sea tourism with the objective of integration of the small ports of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania into the single tourism region of the Baltic Sea.
