APPEAL THE ASSEMBLY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA AND THE SEJM OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND APPEAL TO NATO PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY 23 February 2001 Vilnius Having convened at its 7th Session in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius on 23 February 2001, the Assembly of the Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, taking into consideration the forthcoming session of NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Lithuania, emphasises: 1) the same essential strategic objectives of both states; 2) a particular impact of NATO collective security guarantees on civilisation dimension of societies. Taking into account the above-mentioned, we appeal to NATO Parliamentary Session requesting its support for further enlargement of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and Lithuania’s invitation to the Alliance during the next NATO Summit in Prague.
