SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Resolution On the expediency and time limits of the transitional period for acquisition of agricultural and forest land in Lithuania by foreign nationals 1 July 2002, No IX-1003 Vilnius Taking into account the perspective of Lithuanian agricultural and forestry development and consolidation upon Lithuania’s accession to the European Union, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania has resolved as follows: Article 1 To recommend to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to seek during the negotiations on the terms and conditions for accession to the European Union a transitional period of 7 to 10 years for acquisition of agricultural and forest land by foreign nationals, with the exception of farmers of the European Union Member States who have resided in Lithuania for at least 3 years on a permanent basis, had established a farmer’s farm and have engaged in agriculture.
