SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA RESOLUTION ON THE DRUGS CONTROL POLICY 18 March 2003 Vilnius The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, invoking the 1961 United Nations Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, the 1971 United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Substances, the 1988 United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, ratified by the Republic of Lithuania, and the 2002 Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Resolution on the Prevention of Drug Addiction in Lithuania, is completely opposed to any attempt to legalise narcotic drugs and a policy facilitating illicit use of narcotic drugs; supports initiatives of all governmental and non-governmental organisations to prevent abuse of narcotic drugs; upholds prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addiction, as well as compulsory restrictions and prohibitions as the main principles of an effective drugs control policy, and consents to the basic provisions of the 2003 Vienna Declaration and calls on non-governmental organisations and the public of Lithuania to support this Declaration.
