STATEMENT STATEMENT On International Security The Baltic Assembly has always been active in discussing and focusing on internal and international security. Over decades, challenges and threats to international security have changed to a considerable extent. International terrorism, energy security, cyber crimes, climate change, economic crises, frozen conflicts are the threats which the international community has to face and combat to ensure long-term stability and security globally. Standing up for democratic values, sustainable development, long-term stability and increased international security, the Baltic Assembly invites the international community and international organisations to take serious and coordinated measures to stand up against new international security problems and to implement the European Neighbourhood Policy by paying particular attention to Georgia and other countries of the Caucasus region. Being aware of the present international security situation and new security problems, the Baltic Assembly invites its closest cooperation partners – the Nordic Council and the Benelux Interparliamentary Council – to increase the coordination of activities related to military security, energy security, climate mitigation, fight against cyber crime and the implementation of the EU Neighbourhood policy.
