  6. Session of the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council The 28th Session of the Baltic Assembly and the 15th Baltic Council took place on 26 – 28 November 2009 in Vilnius, Lithuania. During the Session, meetings of the BA Presidium and committees, as well as joint committee meetings, were held. Meetings with international organisations were also held. From the total amount of funds allocated for the Session and the Baltic Council, EUR 18,956 was spent. 2.
  7. Meetings of the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly The following meetings of the Presidium, including participation at the NB8 Speakers’ meeting, as well as participation at the Sessions of the Benelux Interparliamentary Consultative Council (BICC) and the Nordic Council (NC), took place between January and December 2009: - Meeting of the Presidium: 5 – 6 February, Vilnius, Lithuania. - Participation of the Presidium at the 1st Northern Dimension Parliamentary Forum, and the meeting of the BSPC Enlarged Standing Committee: 24 – 26 February, Brussels, Belgium - Joint meeting of BA–BICC Presidiums; participation of the BA Presidium at the BICC Session: 12 – 15 March, Brussels, Belgium - Meeting of the Presidium: 7 May, Riga, Latvia - Joint meeting of BA–BICC Presidiums; participation of the BA Presidium in the BICC Session: 11 – 14 June, Brussels, Belgium - Participation of the Presidium at the NB8 Speakers’ meeting: 25 – 26 August, Oslo, Norway - Participation of the Presidium in the 18th Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference: 29 August – 1 September, Nyborg, Denmark - Meeting of the Presidium; participation of the BA Presidium at the annual Session of the Nordic Council: 27 – 29 October, Stockholm, Sweden - Participation of the BA Presidium in the BICC Session: 10 – 14 December, Brussels, Belgium From the total amount of funds allocated for the Presidium, EUR 12,161 was spent. 2.

Baltic Assembly committee meetings The following meetings of the standing committees of the Baltic Assembly with participation of the representatives from the Nordic Council, the Benelux Interparliamentary Consultative Council, and standing committees of the national parliaments, took place between January and December 2009: - Meeting of the Budget and Audit Committee; joint meeting of the Budget and Audit Committee and the Presidium: 5 – 6 February, Vilnius, Lithuania - Meeting of the Social Affairs Committee: 12 – 13 February, Riga, Latvia - Meeting of the Legal Affairs and Security Committee: 19 – 20 March, Tallinn, Estonia - Joint meeting of the Environmental Protection and Energy Committee and the Economic Affairs, Communications and Informatics Committee: 23 – 24 April, Klaipėda, Lithuania - Meeting of the Education, Science and Culture Committee: 21 – 22 May, Panevėžys, Lithuania - Meeting of the Education, Science and Culture Committee; meeting of the Budget and Audit Committee: 1 – 2 October, Riga, Latvia - Meeting of the Social Affairs Committee: 22 – 23 October, Vilnius, Lithuania From the total amount of funds allocated for the activities of the committees, EUR 32,929 was spent. 2.

International thematic conferences Two roundtable discussions of the Baltic Assembly with participation of the representatives from the Nordic Council, the Benelux Interparliamentary Consultative Council and the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the standing committees of the national parliaments, took place between January and December 2009: - BA–BICC–GUAM PA roundtable discussion took place on 18 – 19 June, Vilnius, Lithuania - BA roundtable discussion with participation of delegations from the NC, the BICC, and the GUAM PA took place on 17 – 18 September, Vilnius, Lithuania From the total amount of funds allocated for the international thematic conferences, EUR 14,025 was spent. 2.
  10. International cooperation From the total amount allocated for the international cooperation activities of the Baltic Assembly, EUR 23,109 was spent. 2.5.
  11. Annual Summit of the Baltic Assembly and the Nordic Council The Annual Summit of the Baltic Assembly and Nordic Council took place on 17 – 18 February 2010, Vilnius, Lithuania; instalment payment was made. From the total amount of funds allocated for the annual summit, EUR 9,850 was spent. 2.5.
  12. Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference (BSPC) From January to December 2009, the following meetings of the Standing Committee, the Enlarged Standing Committee, the working groups, and the Secretariat of the BSPC took place: - Meeting of the Working Group on Labour Market and Social Welfare: 21 – 22 January, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Malmö, Sweden - Coordination meeting of the Joint Energy and Climate Platform of Baltic Sea Region Organisations: 24 – 25 February, Stockholm, Sweden - Meeting of the Working Group on Energy and Climate Change: 1 – 2 March, Helsinki, Finland - Meeting of the Secretariat: 24 – 26 March, Warsaw, Poland - Meeting of the Working Group on Labour Market and Social Welfare: 30 – 31 March, Tallinn, Estonia - Meeting of the Working Group on Labour Market and Social Welfare: 10 – 12 May, Berlin, Germany - Meeting of the Working Group on Energy and Climate Change: 17 – 19 May, Berlin, Germany - Meeting of the Enlarged Standing Committee: 28 – 29 May, Warsaw, Poland - Meeting of the Secretariat: 6 – 7 October, Berlin, Germany - Summit of the Baltic Development Forum: 5 – 6 October, Stockholm, Sweden - Meeting of the Standing Committee: 12 – 13 November, Helsinki, Finland - Meeting of the Working Group on Integrated Maritime Policy: 20 – 22 January 2010, Rostock, Germany; instalment payment was made From the total amount of funds allocated for the participation in the activities of the BSPC, EUR 6,843 was spent. 2.5.
  13. Cooperation of the Baltic Assembly and the Nordic Council From January to December 2009, the following joint events took place: - Joint BA–NC seminar with participation of representatives from Belarus: 23 – 24 March, Vilnius, Lithuania - Joint meeting of the BA Social Affairs Committee and the NC Welfare Committee, joint meeting of the BA Legal Affairs and Security Committee and the NC Citizens and Consumer Rights Committee: 16 – 17 April, Copenhagen, Denmark - Meeting devoted to planning BA–NC cooperation in 2010 and the Annual Summit: 4 November, Copenhagen, Denmark - Participation at the seminar of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Council: 16 November, Tallinn, Estonia From the total amount of funds allocated for the participation in the activities of the Nordic Council, EUR 4,452 was spent. 2.5.
  14. Cooperation with partners of the EU Neighbourhood Policy (cooperation with GUAM PA) On 8 – 12 November 2009, the BA delegation participated at the 4th Session of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly held in Tbilisi, Georgia. In the framework of the Session joint meeting of the BA delegation and the representatives of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, From the total amount of funds allocated for cooperation with partners of the EU Neighbourhood Policy, EUR 1,964 was spent. 2.
  15. Informative activities and other events In 2009 the following activities have been held: - Medals: production of medals, certificates and folders - Website: upkeep of the server and repairs of the website management system - Basketball tournament: 2 – 4 April, Rakvere, Estonia - Marking of the 20th anniversary of the Baltic Way: 21 – 24 August Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius From the total amount of funds allocated for the informative activities and other events, EUR 18,002 was spent. 2.
  16. BA prizes for Literature, the Arts and Science The Baltic Assembly awards its prizes annually (monetary prize, certificate and statuette). In 2009, meetings of the National Judging Committees were held in Tallinn, Estonia; Riga, Latvia; and Vilnius, Lithuania. The meeting of the BA Joint Judging Committee was held on 15 – 16 October in Riga, Latvia. The BA prize awarding ceremony took place on 27 November in Vilnius, Lithuania. From the total amount of funds allocated for the BA Prizes, EUR 35,611 was spent. 2.
  17. Baltic Assembly Secretariat From the total amount of funds allocated for the BA Secretariat, EUR 77,576 was actually spent. These expenditures included salaries for the staff of the BA Secretariat, expenses for office equipment, rent of the premises, as well as expenses for public utilities, communications and postal services, office and travel insurance and security, other services. 2.
  18. Unplanned expenses Unplanned expenses of the Baltic Assembly amounted to EUR 1,982, which included expenses related to changes in currency exchange rates and commission fees for money transfers.
