board of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania decision CONCERNING EVENTS IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE PARLIAMENTARY DIMENSION OF THE LITHUANIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EURoPEAN UNION 6 February 2013 No SV-S-81 (As last amended on 3 May 2013 – No SV-S-209) Vilnius The Board of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, having regard to Decision No 100-S-1 of the Committee on European Affairs and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania of 16 January 2013, r e s o l v e s:

  1. To approve the list of events in the framework of the parliamentary dimension of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and additional events related to the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union to be held at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the European Parliament in the second half of 2013 (attached).
  2. To approve of the initiative of the Committee on Economics of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania to host together with the European Parliament a joint parliamentary meeting to be held at the European Parliament and to approve of the opportunity for the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania to hold an exhibition in the premises of the European Parliament during the joint parliamentary meeting.
  3. To approve of the hosting of the following additional events related to the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania in the second half of 2013: 1) meetings of the Committee on Political Affairs, Security and Human Rights, the Committee on Economic, Financial and Commercial Affairs, the Committee on Social Affairs, Youth and Children, Human Exchanges, Education and Culture and the Working Group on EU-LAC Migration Issues of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat), to be held on 16-18 July 2013; 2) annual “Early School Leaving” conference, to be held by the European Network of Education Councils (EUNEC) on 18-20 November 2013; 3) international session of the Model European Parliament, to be held by the public institution Europos namai (House of Europe) on 2-6 December 2013; 4) academic conference “United in Diversity: Political and Social Development Aspects of EU Languages and Cultures”, to be held by the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language, the Institute of the Lithuanian Language and Vilnius University on 25-26 September 2013; 5) international seminar, to be held by the EU-Neighbourhood East Parliamentary Assembly (Euronest Parliamentary Assembly) on 20 September 2013; 6) side event of the international project “ADSTRINGO − Addressing trafficking in human beings for labour exploitation through improved partnerships, enhanced diagnostics and intensified organisational approaches”, to be held by the Committee on Legal Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania on 17 October 2013; 7) international conference on the occasion of the EU Anti-Trafficking Day, to be held by the Committee on Legal Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania on 18 October 2013; 8) extraordinary meeting of the Workers’ Group (Group II) of the European Economic and Social Committee on the theme “Social dimension of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union”, to be held by the Coordination Centre of Lithuanian Trade Unions on 1 July
  5. To establish that, during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, only the events provided for in subparagraphs 1, 2 and 3 of this Decision may be held at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania in the second half of
  6. Other international events may be held at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania only in exceptional cases by a decision of the Board of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
  7. To establish that the Committees of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania organising the events in the framework of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union must submit draft agendas for these events to the Coordination Working Group of the Office of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania by 1 April 2013, specifying potential panellists and their substitutes.
  8. To establish that the Committees of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania must notify the Coordination Working Group of the Office of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania of visits to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania in 2013 by delegations of the Committees of the European Parliament, the parliaments of the Member States, the candidate and potential candidate countries of the European Union, the Eastern Partnership countries and the strategic partners of the European Union and must coordinate the agendas of these visits with Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Petras Auštrevičius, before submitting them for approval to the Board of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
