Draft RESOLUTION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT VIA BALTICA The Baltic Assembly, having listened to the information on the progress of the project of international transport corridor Via Baltica, and the implementation of the decisions adopted by it previously, states that traffic intensity, specially that of long-distance freight traffic, on the Via Baltica motorway increases annually by 14-18 per cent, notes that in all Baltic States and the Via Baltica section in Poland, construction of engineering facilities and improvement of road safety, with the help of funds provided by international financial institutions, as well as the participating States, are being carried out, promotes to further increase the capacity of the Via Baltica motorway, to link with it other routes with the great future, to develop investment programmes of road building in the Baltic States, proposes to improve conditions of road safety, first of all in the sections of the motorway crossing settlements, provision of meteorological information, as well as the development of communications systems, and calls on the Governments of the Baltic States to promote in every possible way the development of the Via Baltica infrastructure, with a view to increasing the economic and tourist transport flows.
