APPEAL APPEAL TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS The Baltic Assembly, representing the parliaments of the three Baltic states, expresses its concern that the determination of the amount of financial contributions of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to the United Nations budget is not in accordance with the principle of equality in respect of sovereign states as set forth in the United Nations Charter. The Baltic Assembly declares once again that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are not successors to the rights and obligations, including international financial contributions of the former Soviet Union which occupied the Baltic states for 50 years. The Baltic Assembly calls on the UN General Assembly and its expert bodies to examine and solve the question of the financial contributions of the Baltic states.
