RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA RESOLUTION ON CONFIDENCE IN THE ABILITY OF THE PRIME MINISTER TO BE IN CHARGE OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GOVERNMENT PROGRAMME April 21, 1999 Vilnius The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, noting that in implementing the programme approved by the Seimas, the coalition Government headed by Gediminas Vagnorius has strengthened Lithuania’s economic and international situation in its aspirations of good neighbourly relations and West-oriented political, economic and defense integration, whereas the financial system and economy of Lithuania, although sustaining losses, have nevertheless withstood the consequences of the Russian crisis; regretting that in recent weeks, some tensions have developed between the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic, which hinder the solution of problems urgent for our state and society; expresses confidence in the Prime Minister’s ability to continue being in charge of the implementation of the Government Programme; and urges both leaders to cooperate responsibly and constructively for the benefit of the state and its citizens.
