SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA RESOLUTION ON MASS REPRESSIONS, GENOCIDE AND OTHER CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AND WAR CRIMES PERPETRATED DURING THE PERIOD OF OCCUPATIONS November 6, 1997 Vilnius The Seimas , emphasising that the Republic of Lithuania acceded to the Convention of December 9, 1948, on the Prevention and Punishment On the Crime of Genocide and the Convention of November 26, 1968 on the Non-Application of Statute of Limitations for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity, it has also recognised the Statute of the Nurenberg International Tribunal; reminding of the provisions of the Statement of March 27, 1990, of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania and approving the Resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe “On Measures to Dismantle the Heritage of Former Communist Totalitarian Systems: adopted in Strasbourg on June 27, 1996; stating that seven years after the re-establishment of independence of the Republic of Lithuania, the consequences of the Soviet and Nazi occupation have not yet been systematised and evaluated, the structures of occupational regimes which organised and perpetrated mass repressions, deportation and genocide of Lithuanian population, war crimes and other crimes against humanity have not been identified;
