S T A T E M E N T SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA S T A T E M E N T ON THE EVALUATION OF THE EVENTS HELD IN COMMEMORATION OF THE ARMIA KRAJOWA The events held on 30th of June and the first days of July 1994 in commemoration of the actions of the Armia Krajowa units in Lithuania during the Second World War induce the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania to state that: the activities of the Armia Krajowa in Lithuania, including the attempt to occupy Vilnius in the summer of 1944 should be given an evaluation which differs from the treatment of the actions of the Armia Krajowa in Poland. As regards Lithuania's sovereign rights to her capital, even the country was temporarily occupied, those actions neither could not would create any legal facts; on the other hand, the terrorization and killings of the residents of Lithuanian nationality, carried out by the Armia Krajowa units in Lithuania more than once, have to be condemned by Poland itself as well as by the international community. The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania expresses its regrets for the aforementioned events held in commemoration of the 1944 attack on Vilnius, as this does not contribute to the continuing improvement of the relations of the two states.
