GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA Working document GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA RESOLUTION No 1119 ON THE PURCHASE OF FOOD GRAIN OF 1999 HARVEST 15 September 1998 Vilnius In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on State Regulation of Economic Relations in Agriculture (Official Gazette No 1-5, 1995; No 116-2694, 1996; No 96-2429, 1997), anxious to ensure the stable purchase prices for 1999 grain harvest and having regard to the proposals of farmers’ self-government institutions, the Government of the Republic of Lithuania h a s r e so l v e d:

  1. To fix the following minimum purchase prices (in litas per ton of basis condition weight), excluding value added tax, for the food grain of 1999 harvest which is bought up by all the economic entities from farmers, agricultural companies, economic partnerships and other agricultural producers: 1.
  2. food wheat: I class: minimum price – 460, one-off targeted subsidy - 70, with price per tonne - 530; II class: minimum price - 420, one-off targeted subsidy - 50, with price per tonne - 470; 1.
  3. food rye: minimum price - 370, one-off targeted subsidy - 70, with price per tonne –
  4. Revision of Resolution No 580 approved on 14 May 1999 by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (from 20 May 1999) (Official Gazette No 43-1370, 1999) To establish that minimum purchase prices for food grain are not applicable to the food grain of 1999 harvest in the event the co-operative societies (co-operatives), formed of natural persons, buy up the grain from members thereof provided the meeting of the co-operative society (co-operative) members (proxies) has passed a decision by two-thirds of votes that minimum prices for the purchase of food grain shall not be applicable.
  5. Revision of Resolution No 580 approved on 14 May 1999 by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (from 20 May 1999) (Official Gazette No 43-1370, 1999) To assign the task to the Ministry of Agriculture: 3.
  6. to organise the purchase of all the food wheat (I and II class) and rye of 1999 harvest which conform to the requirements of quality standards; 3.
  7. in view of the projected 1999 grain harvest, supply, demand and price in the domestic and external markets, to submit where appropriate proposals by 1 July 1999 to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania concerning specification of the purchase prices of food grain, as well as the purchase and purchase prices for III class wheat; 3.
  8. to establish minimum State purchase prices and subsidies by 1 July 1999 for the food grain of 2000 harvest.
  9. Revision of Resolution No 580 approved on 14 May 1999 by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (from 20 May 1999) (Official Gazette No 43-1370, 1999) The State Competition and Consumer Protection Office under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania must apply the sanctions laid down in the Law on State Regulation of Economic Relations in Agriculture to the economic entities which buy up food grain at the prices lower than fixed minimum purchase prices.
