Published on 16 December 2024   THIRD SECTION Application no. 38251/22 Zaman SAMADOV against Azerbaijan lodged on 27 July 2022 communicated on 25 November 2024 SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE The applicant, who was a lawyer, was disbarred on account of alleged indecent love messages that he had exchanged with a former client outside the context of his professional activity. Relying on Article 8 of the Convention, the applicant complains that his disbarment was unlawful and amounted to a breach of his right to respect for his private life. QUESTIONS TO THE PARTIES Has there been an interference with the applicant’s right to respect for his private life, within the meaning of Article 8 § 1 of the Convention, as a result of his disbarment because of messages that the applicant had exchanged with a former client? If so, was that interference in accordance with the law and necessary in terms of Article 8 § 2?
