FIRST SECTION DECISION Application no. 17259/17 Gianluca CIUCCI and Costanza PICCIONI against Italy (see appended table) The European Court of Human Rights (First Section), sitting on 2 October 2025 as a Committee composed of:  Frédéric Krenc, President,  Davor Derenčinović,  Alain Chablais, judges, and Viktoriya Maradudina, Acting Deputy Section Registrar, Having regard to the above application lodged on 21 February 2017, Having deliberated, decides as follows: FACTS AND PROCEDURE The list of the applicants is set out in the appendix. The applicants were represented by Mr L. Marsella, a lawyer practising in Rome. The applicants’ complaints under Articles 8, 9 and 14 of the Convention concerning the administration of blood transfusions to the applicant G. Ciucci, a Jehovah’s Witness, against his will were communicated to the Italian Government (“the Government”). On 22 July 2025 the applicants informed the Registry that they wanted to withdraw the application to the Court as the underlying legal issue had been solved within the domestic legal system. THE LAW In the light of the foregoing, the Court concludes that the applicants may be regarded as no longer wishing to pursue the application (Article 37 § 1 (a) of the Convention). Furthermore, in accordance with Article 37 § 1 in fine, the Court finds no special circumstances regarding respect for human rights as defined in the Convention and the Protocols thereto which require the continued examination of the application. Accordingly, the case should be struck out of the list. For these reasons, the Court, unanimously, Decides to strike the application out of its list of cases. Done in English and notified in writing on 23 October 2025.    Viktoriya Maradudina Frédéric Krenc  Acting Deputy Registrar President   APPENDIX List of applicants:   No. Applicant’s Name Year of birth Nationality Place of residence 1.
