Short title, collective citation and construction Acts Referred to Documentary Evidence Act 1925 (No. 24) Ministers and Secretaries Act 1924 (No. 16) Ministers and Secretaries Acts 1924 to 2017 Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary, Judicial and Court Offices (Amendment) Act 1998 (No. 5) Number 10 of 2020 MINISTERS AND SECRETARIES AND MINISTERIAL, PARLIAMENTARY, JUDICIAL AND COURT OFFICES (AMENDMENT) ACT 2020 An Act to provide for the establishment of a Department of State to be known, in the Irish language, as An Roinn Breisoideachais agus Ardoideachais, Taighde, Nuálaíochta agus Eolaíochta or, in the English language, as the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science; to amend section 3A of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary, Judicial and Court Offices (Amendment) Act 1998 ; and to provide for related matters. [2nd August, 2020] Be it enacted by the Oireachtas as follows: Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science 1. (1) There shall stand established on the passing of this Act a Department of State to be known, in the Irish language, as An Roinn Breisoideachais agus Ardoideachais, Taighde, Nuálaíochta agus Eolaíochta or, in the English language, as the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. (2) The member of the Government who is in charge of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science shall be known, in the Irish language, as An tAire Breisoideachais agus Ardoideachais, Taighde, Nuálaíochta agus Eolaíochta or, in the English language, as the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. (3) The Ministers and Secretaries Acts 1924 to 2017 and the Documentary Evidence Act 1925 shall apply to the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and the member of the Government who is in charge thereof as if that Department of State had been established by section 1 of the Ministers and Secretaries Act 1924 . Amendment of section 3A of Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary, Judicial and Court Offices (Amendment) Act 1998 2. Section 3A of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary, Judicial and Court Offices (Amendment) Act 1998 is amended, in subsection (1)(a), by the substitution of “not more than 3 specified holders of the office of Minister of State who regularly attend meetings of the Government” for “not more than 2 specified holders of the office of Minister of State who regularly attend meetings of the Government”. Short title, collective citation and construction 3. (1) This Act may be cited as the Ministers and Secretaries and Ministerial, Parliamentary, Judicial and Court Offices (Amendment) Act 2020. (2) The Ministers and Secretaries Acts 1924 to 2017 and section 1 may be cited together as the Ministers and Secretaries Acts 1924 to 2020 and shall be construed together as one Act.
