The examples in this guide are based on Czech law. The same tools also work with the Europaius Malta corpus:
Without a connection to a corpus, every citation from AI is suspect. With the Europaius connector, the AI looks up the actual text before answering and references it in the response. For a firm, this means a simple rule: every citation from AI must include a link to europaius.com or another primary source, otherwise it cannot be used. The mechanism is explained in the guide Why AI Invents Case Law.
The connector works in Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, so there is no need to change the tool people are used to. Anyone can set up the connection themselves: enter the address and log in with an email.
The rules do not need to be long. Five points have proven effective. First, no client-identifying information is entered into the AI; the facts of the case are described anonymously. Second, every citation is verified via the link before it leaves the firm. Third, an AI output is always a draft that the lawyer signs off on. Fourth, only corporate accounts with training on data disabled are used. Fifth, the firm keeps a record of what the AI is used for, so it can answer the client if asked.
The Europaius connector helps with the last point: each account has a log of search queries, so you can trace what was searched for a case and when.
A free Europaius account has 100 queries per day, which is enough for an individual to try it out. A subscription according to the price list unlocks an unlimited number of queries and is tied to an email; a firm typically sets up one account per lawyer. On top of that comes the fee for the AI tool (Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus or Team, Copilot). An hour of research that AI shortens to ten minutes pays back these costs on the very first day. Details in the guide Connector Pricing and Limits.
Week one: two people connect the connector and test it on closed cases where they know the correct answer. Week two: they draft five rules and three sample queries for the firm's typical practice areas. Week three: connection for everyone, brief training, one shared document with proven queries. After a month, evaluate which practice areas AI has sped up and where it is not worthwhile.
https://mcp.europaius.com/mcpOnly the search query goes to the connector, not the client's documents. Confidentiality is handled on the AI tool side: use a corporate plan with training disabled and anonymise the facts of the case.
For routine research and citation verification, often yes. For specialised commentaries and templates, not yet. Many firms combine both.
The link in the response is one click away; the rule 'no link, no use of the citation' is easy to enforce. Moreover, the connector never returns a non-existent decision.
General information only; does not replace legal advice. Connecting the connector requires a Europaius account (free of charge). More About Europaius · Europaius MT
